Day 29

Crossword puzzles from old newspapers kept me busy and it was quite fun, managed to finish a few too..reminds me of the days growing up with my two sisters, we’d solve the puzzles and be rewarded with candy whenever we successfully worked the puzzles…my love for words was consumated on these hallowed pages

Day 28

Back to the city back to reality and the fast life of stress, walking on egg shells and stepping on people toes…traffic jams and deadlines, long weeks and as the name suggests…short weekends.

Day 27

Yes phone, no reception, no emails, no phone calls, no text…surrounded by hills and trees, seeing livestock and burds…it all made me appreciate the importance of conversation with those around us, the joy of looking into their eyes as words are exchanged. Real, healthy, face to face conversations with people matter

Day 26

Quiet day…watched a movie in the night, it was about remembering loved ones. Remembering not only honours them but keeps their memories alive when they’re gone. It reminded me of my late grandpa Clouseau and how we fondly speak of him on a nearly daily basis. One crazy guy…may you always live on in my heart and on my tongue

Day 25

Watched the day go by, I read, gathered my thoughts and wrote a sentence. Like Ice Cube said: it was a good day

Day 24

Dealing with and accepting imperfection is not easy. Staring in the mirror and asking the tough questions; Would I date the person looking back? Would I forgive their repeated mistakes? Would I wanna spend the rest of my life with that person? It’s easy to quickly point out another person’s flaws but when you examine yourself, would you be just as objective or would you give yourself a pass coz its you? Coz truthfully speaking, your blemishes are probably far worse and you’re most likely projecting your insecurity in your treatment of others.

Day 23

I watched the day go by..I smiled and laughed, I read and thought, gathered my thoughts and barely wrote. In the famous words of Ice Cube: it was a good day

Day 22

Went to drop an application today, ten minutes and a right turn down a dirt road and I was lost lol I walked quite a distance, haven’t walked like that in 6 months and it felt real good. I kinda forgot I was lost coz the wind was blowing just right, the trees and grass were super green, the birds were chirping and undulating terrain in the distance was beautiful. I found a piece of serenity for 45 minutes then I found a tarmac and boom! Back to hell

Day 21

Spoke to two good friends today, one in person the other over the phone. One for five minutes the other for 55 but the message was the same: things aren’t as bad as they seem…there’s someone out there who deserves more good bit has it worse…just a little bit of patience and good fortune is required…One more try and the trying times might be over, books, travel and happiness beckon on the other side of this mountain. It’s in times of need that you know friends, not friends that will give you a hand out but a sense of purpose and belonging, I’m forever grateful
