To Colour

In your soul I helplessly drowned
Within it, mine was unbound
Overcome by your stunning nature
A nature so immaculate, so fine
Surely, the closest thing to divine

Your utterances are deep, somewhat eternal
As is the mention of your name in my journal
For everywhere I go, there you are
Whether I walk the dessert or set sail
Climb the hill or stray the dale

My eyes are greeted by you each morn’
The day is but a child you meticulously adorn
When by night you rule the heavens
When in Morpheus’ arms I silently lay
You paint my dreams with the fine hues of day

This soul sings the song of an innocent child
Captured by Hades and returned wild
A result of his own reckless deeds
Inspired by fortune and fame, driven by greed
Failing to return to innocence, he pretends
Hiding under the spotless wings of family and friends
With an alluring hiss, critics he mocks
His character cunning as that of a fox
Countenance so serene, plain and open
Yet yonder his skin, rotten
The guilt of deception backs him into a corner
Knowing nothing else to do, he becomes a loner
Sits in the dark all day to plan and think
His ideas are conceived by loneliness, born of paper and ink
